On Wednesday 15th January, the whole school took part in a Happiness Theme Day to beat away the January blues! Year 4 themed their lessons for the entire day on self-expression, our feelings and ways to promote relaxation. The children studied happy music in their music lesson, considering tempo and compositions that promote happy and relaxed emotions for the listener. The children also took part in lots of French-themed colour-by-number activities, building their vocabulary during fun activities with their friends. In R.E., Mrs Barnett explored the children’s gifts and talents, considering how God has made us all unique and individual; something we should be proud of.

During the afternoon, the children spent an hour in the hall doing mindful movements, putting together lots of challenging sequences of balances, stretches and movements. The children thoroughly enjoyed this, and it will certainly be something we revisit as an active break in class or as future lessons in P.E.! The children took part in lots of P.S.H.E. activities like filling each other’s compliment cups. In the style of musical bumps, the children moved around the room to music and stopped at the seat they were at when the music pauses, to write a compliment about that person. The children loved reading these compliments once we had finished, with big smiles all around.

No Happiness Day is complete without a party, so we held our very own POSITIVE PARTY! There was karaoke, dancing and the chance for the children to play board games they had brought in from home with their friends. All in all, everyone had an amazing day and we hope this is something we can repeat every year!
