Mrs. Trotter teaches Year 1 with the support from Mrs. Sevens and Mrs. Hayes. Mrs. Hayes teaches us on a Wednesday afternoon and a Friday morning. Miss Mallinson takes us for our music lesson on Friday morning.
Things to know about…
Year 1 is a very busy year as we start working on the National Curriculum. There is so much to learn but we always have lots and lots of fun.
Homework – For our homework we read every night. On a Friday we also get Maths andEnglish homework and spellings. All of our homework is sent home in paper format.
PE – one of our PE sessions takes place on a Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Hayes. The other session is on Monday morning with Mrs. Trotter and Mrs. Hayes.

Year 1 Science – Planting
In Science, we have been looking at how plants survive and how we need to take great care of them, in order for them to grow. We planted our own seeds and have been looking after them, watching them grow.
Master Bakers
We have loved learning about the Great Fire of London and really enjoyed being Bakers! We made dough which we shaped into different rolls to use in our Bakery Role Play Area in class. We then made a huge loaf of bread to share together.

Penguins
We have been learning about Antarctica. The children studied different species of penguin and then painted them as part of our Geography work.
Library Visit
Rachel from Kirkham library came to visit us to share some stories. The children loved listening to them especially Goldilocks in Space!
Fine Motor Skills
In Year 1 we have been working hard on developing our fine motor skills. Fine motor skills involve small muscles working with the brain and nervous system to control movements in areas such as the hands, fingers, lips, tongue and eyes. Developing our fine motor skills...
