Year 5 had a fabulous day learning all about VE Day and the evacuees during the Second World War. We watched videos of people recounting what it was like for them and explored images of the children being sent away to the countryside. Then we imagined that we were an evacuee and wrote our own recount or story of what happened to us. We linked our angles work in maths by measuring angles in tanks and we also created some war art using digital media. At the end of the day, we learnt how to play some old games such as hopscotch and Jacks and finished with a prayerful reflection.
