Welcome to Year 4! I have been so proud of how the children have settled in and performed on their first week; it has been a pleasure getting to know them and sharing the exciting plans for the year ahead!

To help us think about our hopes and dreams for Year 4, the children’s first English task was to write a rap / song to the music of Queen- We Will Rock You. The children had a fantastic time and showed real creativity throughout this task.

We first learnt how to count beats and break words into syllables before starting to re-write the song line by line making it about us being in Year 4 and looking forward to certain aspects of the year.

The highlight was definitely listening to the brave children who dared to stand at the front and perform their song as karaoke with the backing music. Well done to those children, and indeed all of Year 4, for doing a brilliant job with your word choice and writing for purpose!
