Welcome to Year 4!

During our first week, we have been learning all about our new routines in Year 4 and looking ahead to the learning journey we are embarking on this year. We have talked about what we are looking forward to and what is expected of us now we are in Year 4. To add some creativity, our first task in English was to change the words to the song ‘We Will Rock You’ to instead be all about our hopes, dreams and expectations in Year 4. 

We first completed a ‘We are, We are Year 4 class song together to get the children used to counting the syllables and beats in each line. Once we had some practice, the children all completed two verses of their own songs. I was amazed at how well they managed to mould sentences and pick specific language that fit the correct rhythm and beat for each line! The children had the change to sing their own song to the backing track with a microphone during our karaoke hour and they even got the chance to play the glocks to create the beat for their tune in their music lesson.
