Year three led prayers to mark to beginning of Advent. They reminded everyone how important this time of waiting is and how import it is to find room in our hearts for Jesus as we prepare for His coming at Christmas.
We lit the first candle on our beautiful Advent wreath which represents hope, as the first Sunday of Advent celebrates the beginning of a new liturgical season. The children told us that first candle on the Advent wreath is sometimes called the prophecy candle and calls us to listen to all the promises that God made to us in the Old Testament. One of the prophecies that foretold the coming of the Saviour came from the book of Isaiah who tells us that a pure young woman will give birth to God’s son.
The children finished by asking each each class to make their own Advent promises to hang on our tree.
