Year 3
Welcome to Year 3’s class page…
A very warm welcome to Year 3!
Year 3 are taught by myself, Mrs. Wilks, and I am so looking forward to getting to know you all better throughout the year. Please feel free to come and see me anytime!
I am very fortunate to be supported by the wonderful Mrs. Duncan, Miss Stedman, Mrs Smith and Mr McKeown at various points throughout the week. On Wednesday mornings, Miss Mallinson will be teaching Music and Mrs. Spacey will be teaching French and Maths. We are also very lucky to have Mrs. Hayes, who will be taking our Forest School sessions throughout the year.
Year 3 is an exciting year for the children as they move up to the juniors, and we will be working on making the transition as smooth as possible for them to ensure that they settle in to their new learning environment.
Take a look at the information below to see what we have been getting up to!
Important things to know about…
Times Tables – Every week, we are given Times Tables to learn and we are tested on these every Friday. Please try and practise them at home – we’ll be practising in school too.
Spellings – Each Friday I will give the children their new spelling list. At the same time we will run through the spellings they have been learning throughout the week. Make sure you’re practising them at home!
Reading at Home – We should read at home (independently or with an adult) every day and it should be logged in our Reading Diary. Reading Diaries will be checked daily. Reading is EXTREMELY important because it helps our children to unlock more of the curriculum.
Maths and English Homework – Just like the rest of the school, we are set homework on a Friday and it is due in for the following Friday. Homework is set via Seesaw and it is to be submitted on or before the following Friday. Homework will be based on our learning in school and will alternate between Maths and English each week.
PE – Our PE sessions are timetabled for Monday afternoons and Wednesday afternoons. No Earrings please!
