Year 4 have been spending the last half term learning about ‘The Ancient Egyptians’ in history. On Monday 14th July, the children had a wonderful visit from a member of the Lancashire Heritage Museums team, who led an Egyptian workshop for the children all morning.

Professor Tuesday, as she was known to the children, explained all about the unification of the two major Egyptian tribes to create one Egyptian ’empire’, with Narmer the first Pharaoh. She then took them on a journey of learning, from the social classes, jobs Egyptians would have, the importance of the river Nile and key Pharaohs. The children’s highlight was undoubtedly learning about mummification, using Professor Tuesday’s life-size doll that was even stuffed with organs! The children also got to explore and touch several Egyptian artefacts and learn about their symbolism in Ancient Egyptian culture.
