On Monday 16th June, Year 4 had a very special day celebrating National School Sports Week – we spent the entire day doing P.E!
We first joined Max Whitlock for an inspiring live Zoom gymnastics lesson. The children were put through their paces by multiple-gold Olympic champion Max Whitlock, who taught them the different gymnastics positions and jumps before moving on to the 4 steps to pulling off the perfect cartwheel. The children were fantastic, with some even going on to try Max’s challenge, which was a cartwheel into vertical handstand, with a cartwheel out! Max modelled all of the moves himself on the big screen and even performed some incredible gymnastics moves to inspire the children at the end. What an opportunity!
Following this, we were treated to another visit from our friends at Royal Cross Primary School for the deaf in Preston. Their 10 KS2 children spend the rest of the day with us taking part in competitive games of dodgeball and lots of orienteering challenges around the school grounds. The children certainly worked hard and got a whole week’s worth of exercise, but showed amazing friendship, leadership, patience and communication throughout. The teachers at Royal Cross were in awe of our children heaping praise on their kindness and care of the Royal Cross children and how well they welcomed them into their school.
