On Monday 16th June, Year 4 had the incredible opportunity to take part in a live Zoom P.E. lesson with none other than multiple Gold medal Olympian, Max Whitlock!

The children worked in pairs on a mat in the school hall to learn the the different gymnastic poses and jumps from the master himself. The lesson was live, with Max even handstand-walking into the camera shot. There was of course time for Max to show us lots of incredible tricks, but our main task once we learnt the different poses and jumps was to learn the 4 steps towards learning to cartwheel. Max modelled this on the big screen, while the children practiced in turn on their mats following his pointers and technique. Before long, half of the class were cartwheeling and even attempted his challenge – to cartwheel into a vertical handstand, then cartwheel out. Several of the children mastered it and got a big thumbs up from Max who was watching us on the live camera!

The children had a great time participating in the lesson and we were really proud to be sent a personal message from one of the organisers of the event saying how well behaved our children were, how hard they tried during the lesson and how much progress they made. Well done Year 4, we are really proud of you!
