Year 4 are taught by Mr Sharock. In Year 4, our classroom is a place of happiness, learning and fun! we firmly believe in respecting one another, working hard, giving new challenges a go with a smile on our face and bringing our learning to life in creative and practical ways!

Things to know about…

Just like the rest of the school, we are set homework on a Friday and it is due in for the following Friday. As we are in Year 4, we are starting to get ready for the build up in homework as we go into Year 5 and Year 6 and then on to high school. For this reason we get either English or Maths homework that will last about half an hour; some weeks we will get both English and Maths work to do. Please support your child in completing their homework.

We are also given a set of Spellings and Times Tables to learn on a Friday – we have our test the following Friday.

Reading is incredibly important in Year 4. We are encouraged to read as often as possible – aiming to read at home at least five times a week.

Our PE sessions are timetabled for Monday afternoons and Wednesday afternoons. From September to December, Year 4 will be going swimming on Mondays, making one of their P.E. sessions.

Alongside the class teacher, Mr Sharrock, the children in Year 4 work with Mrs Barnett for 1 hour per week covering R.E., Miss Mallinson for 1 hour per week covering music, Mrs Spacey for 2 hours per week covering French and Brass For All music. Year 4 also have the valued support of Mrs Smith as teaching assistant at various times throughout the week.
