Welcome to Reception!

Welcome to Reception at The Willows! Starting school is a very special milestone, and we are delighted to welcome our youngest children into our school family.

Our Reception class is taught by Mrs Aris, who is supported by Miss Lynch. We are also fortunate to have Mrs Hayes, who leads our Forest School sessions.

Reception is a place where curiosity, imagination and a love of learning are encouraged every day. Through purposeful play, exciting activities and carefully planned teaching, children develop the knowledge and skills they need to make a confident start to school life. Whether exploring the outdoors, sharing stories, investigating numbers or creating something wonderful, there is always something new to discover.

We place great importance on helping children develop friendships, grow in confidence and become increasingly independent.

Our Catholic Life

Our Catholic faith is at the heart of everything we do. We help children understand that God loves each of us and encourage them to show kindness, care and respect towards others.

On Monday and Wednesday mornings, we join the whole school for Celebration of the Word. On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings, we gather for Celebration of the Word in our classroom, led by children or members of staff. These special moments help children begin to understand prayer, listen to God's Word and develop their relationship with Jesus.

Supporting Learning at Home

Families play an important part in children's learning. Sharing books, practising phonics, singing nursery rhymes and exploring numbers together all help children build strong foundations. Talking about the school day and encouraging independence with everyday tasks can also make a real difference.
